U.S. General Services Administration Identifies Citrix Mobile Device Management

Citrix today announced that the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has identified Citrix XenMobile® as a potential source for mobile device management (MDM) that capably addresses the Federal government’s Mobile Device Management and Mobile Application Management (MDM/MAM) requirements.  XenMobile, a core component of the Citrix mobile workspace solution, provides secure delivery and management of mobile, web, and Software as a Service (SaaS) applications, data, and devices to enable people to work better.

GSA’s list of potential MDM and MAM sources identifies products that meet the Federal government’s growing requirements for mobility.  GSA evaluated MDM providers and solutions for technical compliance, acquisition processes, experience, and scalability.  Additionally, the list of potential MDM and MAM solution sources are Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 and FISMA compliant.

Citrix XenMobile is a comprehensive enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution that offers a revolutionary new way to mobilize government agencies.  Citrix launched Citrix XenMobile in February 2013, and in March 2014, Citrix announced a new version of the solution, which enhanced its capabilities to include FIPS 140-2 compliant encryption for mobile applications like secure email, browser, and content collaboration.  The solution offers agencies the freedom to choose their own devices, the ability to use any application on any device with single sign-on capabilities, and access to all documents and email anytime, anywhere.  Citrix XenMobile also eliminates the need for IT departments to buy point solutions from multiple vendors by offering the flexibility users need along with the ability to meet important security and compliance requirements in a single solution.  This complete solution offers several key capabilities including:

  • Enterprise MDM that delivers role-based management, configuration, and security for both agency and employee-owned devices.
  • Unified app store that can deliver any app (Windows, mobile, or SaaS/web) to any device.
  • Essential mobile productivity apps like secure email, secure browser, and data sharing applications from Citrix that deliver a rich user experience with the management and control that IT departments require.
  • Mobile application management that centralizes IT management, security, and control for any mobile application, whether created by a third party or agency IT department.
  • Multi-factor single sign-on capabilities to help agencies maintain applications while providing users single sign on so they aren’t required to log into applications individually.

“Mobility is a top priority for public sector agencies,” said Tom Simmons, area vice president, Public Sector, Citrix.  “Now more than ever, employees are demanding a mobile workspace that provides them access to applications and data from any mobile device, including personal devices, and simultaneously, agencies are seeking mobility solutions to increase productivity and cost savings.  Until the release of Citrix XenMobile, there has not been a single solution that enables agencies to meet employee mobility requirements while also ensuring the security required by government regulations.  Citrix XenMobile provides the flexibility and mobility that users require while meeting IT compliance and control needs.  We are proud that the GSA has selected Citrix XenMobile as an approved potential source of mobile device and application management solutions."
